Our Story

We are a family of winemakers with three small vineyards. At the Arthurs Creek vineyard there is a winery restaurant, a cellar door and B&B accommodation, all on site, all family owned and operated. Located in the beautiful Yarra Valley region of Victoria, our vines were planted thirty five years ago, and our grapes are hand picked and the wines made on site by the three winemakers.

When you come to Shaws Road Winery we want you to share the beautiful rural views, the sense of change that comes with the seasons, the pleasure in enjoying great wine created from our own fruit. Come out to our place. Enjoy the views. Pat the dogs. Warm yourself by the log fire (or take advantage of the air-conditioning). Enjoy a delicious meal with a glass of great wine. We look forward to your company!

Our History

1982
The Eltham vineyard was established with Chardonnay vines in 1982, and Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1983.

1986
The Shaws Road, Arthurs Creek vineyard was planted with blocks of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and the traditional Bordeaux combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Franc, and Merlot.

1990
The first commercial production of wine.

1997
The Arthurs Creek vineyard was further developed with additional plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

2007
The Winery building was completed, including the Production room, the Cellar and a small indoor café area.

2009
The Black Saturday bushfire destroyed 80% of the Strathewen vineyard, including blocks of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay vines.

2016
The Shaws Road Winery is expanded and the seating area extended to the outdoor verandah.

2020
The restaurant seating area is fully enclosed, and the outdoor garden seating area is landscaped. At this stage the restaurant is only open monthly. The two B&B apartments are created and opened for business.

2021
From November, the Shaws Road Winery opened for lunch every Saturday and Sunday.

2022
The restaurant renovations were completed, and the kitchen expanded. The extensive car-park has been built and the driveway sealed.

Shaws Road Winery has exciting plans for the future including more renovations to create a beautiful and enjoyable place to visit.
